Knitting with braid and heart

Dear knitting friends and knitting friends

Today, it is all about the lady who makes our all knitting hearts beat faster: Sabine.

Sabine is not only the founder of our beloved wool boutique in Kolsass, but also the driving force behind everything we do here.

You can immediately feel that Sabine runs her boutique with all her heart. It is the love for the small details that make the boutique so make special. Sabine doesn’t run them to get rich. She does it because that’s exactly what makes her happy. Because that's exactly what she likes to get up for in the morning. And because it made her hobby a profession.

Sabine and her wool – always and everywhere

If you think Sabine is just shutting down outside the store – wrong! Even on holiday with her husband, wool and knitting always play a role. No matter which city the two travel to, Sabine is guaranteed to find the most charming little wool shops, scour the shelves for special yarns and bring home new inspiration. We love how she then shares her discoveries – and it is often these stories that make Sabine and her passion for knitting so special.

Onee Boutique as nonee andere

Wool & Staune is more than just a place where yarns are sold. Thanks to Sabine, it has become a real meeting point for knitting lovers. Here not only wool is bought, but also laughed, chattered and sometimes even knitted together.

Why did we decide to dedicate today’s blog post to Sabine and her unparalleled love for wool? Because it just keeps us thrilled. So that you understand what we are talking about, let us take you behind the scenes.

Every two weeks we coordinate about the new products in the shop to provide you with fresh knitting ideas and inspiration in our posts. This week, Sabine once again left us completely speechless – in the best sense!

Warum? Just keep reading!

A young knitter walked into the store and showed Sabine a photo of a casual, oversized braider that she was eager to knit. Together, the two instructions and patterns went through, but nothing exactly corresponded to the picture. But instead of giving up, Sabine really got started.

She began to delve deep into the knitting universe. She searched online, flipped through old knitting booklets and digged through her countless ideas. And what happened? Sabine not only discovered similar instructions, but also came across the most fascinating braid patterns and sweaters imaginable.

From these finds she has then quickly put together new knitting kits for you. That's what we call pure passion!

By the way, our customer found something: With a suitable guide and the perfect wool, her mom is now busy knitting the braid sweater.

So that you may soon knit your own braid sweater, we want to share the new knitting kits with you. Before that, however, there are still a handful of facts about the braid pattern sweater:

The braid pattern sweater has its roots in Ireland, more precisely in the Aran Islands. There, the striking braid patterns were originally knitted on the traditional fishing sweaters. The dense structures that made the sweaters particularly warm and robust – perfect for the rough sea and the hard life of the fishermen.

Today, braid patterns are a real classic and indispensable from the knitting world. Whether interpreted traditionally or modernly, they give each sweater a special, handmade character.

But one thing we can tell you right away, braid knitting is an adventure that requires a bit of skill, patience and possibly knitting experience. Of course, we have already experienced in the store how ambitious beginners astonished us with their braid projects, but we would still classify braid knitting in the category “medium-heavy”.

Knitting braids requires endurance. Each row, in which plaits are made, takes significantly longer than a smooth right knitted – you have to go through. But it's worth it!

For many (Sabine included), pattern knitting is even a kind of meditation. The focus you need helps to switch off completely. It is this mixture of concentration and creativity that makes braid knitting special.

Of course, the knitting of braids is not for everyone – and it does not have to be! For those who would rather take it a little more relaxed, we have put together knitting kits that are just as much fun but less demanding. Because in the end, the fun of knitting counts above all!

Finally, we have two absolutes. Wolle & Staune-It-Pieces for you - real must-haves that belong in every knitwear collection. Be inspired and treat yourself to something special for your next projects!

But now we leave you back to your knitting needles and wish you success with your braid sweaters or other creative knitting projects. In two weeks we will be back with new and fresh ideas.

Until then – stay creative and enjoy your time with your wool!

PS: A note on your own behalf

However, we hope you enjoyed our contribution and feel inspired.
