WOLLE & STAUNE · BLOG & NEWS

Wool, which is more important than strip-free windows

The time has come again: the sun suddenly stands at an impossible angle and illuminates ruthlessly every layer of dust, every ball of wool under the sofa and even the stain on the window, which we have skilfully ignored since Christmas.

And almost as on command, then also the bad conscience reports: „Frühjahrsputz! Time for glass cleaners! Ordnung! Lemon fragrance and microfibre towels!

Why is this proposal perhaps more valuable than you believe at first? Please keep reading!

1. Wool is more important than a strip-free window

A freshly cleaned window is a short treat. But a knitted sweater? That will remain.

He warms not only the body, but also the soul. He looks at you in the morning friendly from the closet, so according to the motto: “Today, again, through the day?” And the experience of success when he is finished – that sits deep. Not like freshly cleaned windows, which will please you for exactly three minutes before the first raindrop or a particularly determined bird cancels your mission.

Window cleaning brings short-term clarity – but also medium- to long-term suffering.
A knitted sweater? He brings pride. And stays. Even in the rain. Also in the case of birds.

2. The Best Ideas Don't Come When Cleaning

No one has suddenly thought when scrubbing tiles: “Now would be just the right moment for a lifting mesh pattern in mohair cotton!”

When cleaning, at most, you have thoughts such as: “Why am I doing this to myself?” or “Was the drain already clogged at the time of entry?”

Completely different in knitting: The thoughts sort themselves. Stitch by stitch it gets brighter and clearer in the head. Cleaning might clean up the bath – but knitting? That cleans you up. So deep inside!

Whether this is science or just imagination, let’s face it – it works.

3. Self-Care Is Not Inhaling Bathroom Cleaners

Nowadays, everything is under the slogan „Selfcare“. Fußbad? Selfcare. Selleriesaft? Selfcare. Do bathroom joints scrub with the toothbrush in meditative slow motion? Apparently self-care too. Well, everybody likes it.

We find our inner balance between merino yarns with fine shimmer and rib patterns. Of course, with a fresh coffee on the side and the good feeling that the world out there remains a bit dusty – but we create something that counts.

Denn “I don’t clean anything today, I’m creatively busy” This is not an excuse, but clearly self-care!

We think these were more than enough good arguments to free you from spring cleaning with a clear conscience. Much more meaningful (and beautiful!) is to finally dedicate ourselves to this new sweater, of which we speak all the time.

And quite coincidentally – really purely coincidental – we have arrived at exactly the right thing for it:
Freshly delivered and already loved hot – the new colors of the LITLG Singles!

Our favorites? Beige-Blue, Celestial, Softday and Shack:

Of course, we would also have some fine ideas about what you can conjure up from it – from airy lightweight shawls to favorite pieces for cooler spring days.

But of course it is far from being done. Believe us: When you’re done with this article, your knitting list will certainly be longer than your cleaning list. And it would only be logical to devote oneself to the longer list first – purely for priority reasons, of course.

We have browsed through our knitting kits and have brought out real spring and summer treasures for you.

Projects that not only make you want warmer days, but also bring real fun with knitting – airy, light and just the right thing for creative hours in the sun (or on the couch, with an open balcony door).

Since our men probably do not enjoy a thorough spring cleaning this year because we are busy with knitting – and so that they continue to tolerate our woolly hobby (perhaps even with enthusiasm) – we have to compensate them a little bit, for better or worse.

Our proposal: the AUGUST Seemannspullover from Sandnes Garn.

A model that not only makes a lot visually, but is also wonderfully versatile:
Whoever likes it, reaches for SUNDAY Of fine merino wool. For the summer variant we recommend Mandarin petit – This makes the sweater a casual all-rounder for warmer days.

And before anyone indignantly objected, we women would certainly not be responsible for giving our men a clean home. bescheren: We trust that the fine sarcasm can be read between the lines. 😉

What self-determining women we are, we hereby prove to you: When it comes to knitting, we will not be distracted by spring cleaning this year or deterred by the warmer temperatures. Because why should we suddenly only handle thin cotton yarns, just because the first 20 degrees are cracked outside? We keep knitting – exactly what we like. Even if it’s a big Norwegian sweater for snow walks.

Especially Sabine, who does not like summer and heat, holds on to this philosophy. When she’s working on a warm, heavy project, it feels a bit like winter is still here – or at least autumn is within her reach. For them, the perfect technique for gentle seasonal refusal.

Here is a small look at Sabine’s current favorite designs, with which the upcoming summer can be superbly displaced:

And now that we’re slowly approaching the end of this post, it’s almost a bit ironic. Although we have stood with full conviction against the spring cleaning, we come at the end with a small cleaning tip around the corner.

Don’t worry – it’s not about windows or joints, but of course about our favorite knitted pieces. Because even if we confidently ignore the wool mice under the couch and the lime stains in the shower for a round, our knitting machines naturally need the right care. So much the better that with us the laundry detergents of kaëll They arrived.

The German company stands for modern, conscious household products that not only work, but also think. kaëll consistently relies on the principle “less is more”: In their products, only ingredients that are really needed are omitted – everything superfluous like dyes.

What is not in it speaks for itself:
0 % Mikroplastik, 0 % Aerosole, 0 % fabric softeners.

Instead, high-quality, environmentally friendly alternatives are used – such as corn flour grinders or plant-based care materials. In short: kaëll rethinks cleaning – high-quality, sustainable and with style. This is precisely why the brand fits so well with us and our knitted treasures.

But now we finally leave you completely to your knitting needles. We wish a lot of fun, success and many quiet knitting moments until we read each other again in 14 days, with fresh news, inspirations and perhaps one or the other little wisdom of life.
