Dear ones,
Two weeks ago we told you about Sabine’s endless passion for wool and knitting. We came up with the idea to finally tell you again from two customers who always inspire us anew. It is about Monika and Ulrike from Baden near Vienna – two wonderful ladies who take the long way to our small wool shop in Kolsass in Tyrol.
Why they do this and what makes their visits so special for Sabine, Sabine wants to tell you for yourself:
Monika's first visit: courage, new beginning and a very special birthday gift
I met Monika several years ago. It was, as far as I remember, the second year after the death of her husband. At 6 o’clock in the morning she sat down on the train from Vienna to Innsbruck, got on the bus to Kolsass.
Let’s be honest: I have never travelled by bus from Innsbruck to Kolsass. I don’t even know exactly where the stop in Innsbruck is – let alone whether this is still called a “stop” these days.
Although Monika was going through a difficult time, she wanted to prove to herself on this day what she alone can do. And so she came to my store on her birthday. Fortunately, I had a lot of time at the time and we talked very intensively. This meeting touched me deeply. On the one hand their strength and courage, on the other hand their enthusiasm for knitting and beautiful yarns. I was really impressed by their openness and willpower – and I am still so today.
WhatsApp, “you” and new projects
Monika came to me again alone in Kolsass, again by train and bus, again full of thirst for action and anticipation. In between, we kept in touch via WhatsApp, if she needed wool replenishment or had questions about new projects. One day, she actually offered me the “you.”
For me as a Tyrolean, it is completely normal to be with most people by you. Here at our countryside, we go relatively quickly to a warm, personal level. But Monika comes from Baden near Vienna and her “you” felt like a small knighthood to me.
Another customer from Vienna actually told me that you are not produced so quickly in Vienna – that was something very special. You may now call me Knightess Sabine of the Wollturm!
Knitting at master class level
At some point, Monika announced that she would bring her good acquaintance and knitting friend Ulrike on the next visit. Und was soll ich sagen? When I met Ulrike and her knittings, I was completely speechless. She particularly likes to use Isager Yarns and conjures up real works of art from them. A level that I really want to call a master class.

Todo lists, storage chaos and lots of wool
Recently it was time again: Monika and Ulrike announced themselves – thank God, so I can prepare myself! Because when the two come, I need reinforcement so that someone else can take care of the remaining customers in the store. The two of them usually know exactly what they want. There are project lists, to-do lists and checklists – and of course the whole thing is stored perfectly in the head.
So while the two of them are looking at new colors of Isager Yarns, I already have the first orders in my ear and savor from warehouse 1 to warehouse 2 – and sometimes even to warehouse 3 in the most stupid case, because I have left my cheating sheet somewhere, of course. With these knitting escalations, my head can sometimes just not keep up, but I do my best!
Often there are at least three projects per lady, plus various books and instructions. Everything has to be carefully selected, after all, they do not travel here every few weeks. Sometimes not everything fits in the backpack of Monika or the travel bag of Ulrike – in these cases I can then send them a few things. And believe me, I love to do that!
A heartfelt thank you to two exceptional customers
Monika and Ulrike are two impressive and loving women who inspire me with their woolly passion every time. Your visits are always a highlight for me, because I know that not only do wool and instructions go over the shop counter, but also a lot of stories, inspiration and warmth are exchanged.
I am looking forward to the next visit of this special duo and to experience many more knitting adventures together with the two.
In terms of “special duo” we continue today directly with the parent-subsidiary of Marianne and Helga Isager. Anyone who deals a little with knitting and wool will sooner or later stumble upon the name “Isager”. No wonder: the company stands for high-quality yarns and convinces not only with outstanding materials, but also with an impressive range of designs. This is precisely due to the close cooperation between mother and daughter, who incorporate their respective styles and ideas into the designs.
Today we would like to show you two knitting projects that could hardly be more different: The „Yakke“ by Marianne Isager and the „Working Girl“ by Helga Isager. Although both models come from the same house, they score with their own details, difficulty levels and styles. It is precisely this diversity that makes Isager so exciting – here every knitting enthusiast will find the right project!
If you have found the taste and are looking for even more inspiration, we also recommend you take a look at the grandiose book „A Knitting Life 2“. The link to this we have given you HIER hinterlegt.

Also included Helga Jona with their „Rita Jacket“ and also Otherloops Then put it on your side. ‘Johanne Loop Sweater’ on the popular quality from Denmark.
