fOTOS, design and knitting instructions © PetiteKnit
When I got the opportunity to look at the archives of all the Isager patterns, there was no doubt when I saw the Cardigan, which is the inspiration for the Esther jacket. The simple, yet recognizable pattern of regular right and left stitches has a timeless quality. It’s the kind of knitwear you’d like to find in your grandfather’s closet and take home right away. Mette Wendelboe Okkels, Petiteknit
The Esther Jacket is worked from top to bottom in the structure pattern. First, the upper part of the back is done with increases. After that, the shoulders are made of picked up stitches at the top of the back. The body shall be knitted in rows. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the arm cutouts, which are then worked down in rounds. Finally, the diaphragms and a ribbed tuft on the neck cutout take place.
Knit first a stitch sample to determine the needle size that suits you. Please make the gauge following the diagram in the instructions.
Größenguide
The Esther Jacket should have a range of movement (positive ease) of about 24 cm for the smaller sizes and a gradually smaller range of movement for the larger sizes. The sizes XXS(XS)S(M)L(XL)2XL (3XL)4XL (5XL) match a chest circumference on the body of 75-80 (80-85)85-90 (90-95)95-100 (100-110) 110-120 (120-130) 130-140 (140-150) cm. The dimensions of the finished jacket can be found on the title page. Take measurements of yourself before you begin the actual knitting to determine the size that suits you best. If your breast circumference (or the widest part of your body) measures 90 cm, you should choose size S, as it has a breast circumference of 114 cm and the range of movement (positive ease) in the mentioned example is 24 cm.

Exciting background information about the Isager Archive collection, by Helga Isager:
