fOTOS, design and knitting instructions © Helga Jóna Thórunnardóttir
Helga Jóna Thórunnardóttir writes about the draft:
The RITA jacket is my contribution to the ISAGER-ARCHIV-KOLLETKION. The inspiration can be found in Åse Lund Jensen’s knitting pattern “PJUSK Battlejacket”, which she made in 1974. I’ve always been fascinated by this jacket, the loop knitting and the beautiful hand drawings that Åse made of it.
I reinterpreted the jacket in a lightweight version of a bomber jacket, with the loops knitted from Isager Bouclé, which I think is made for this jacket. The fine little loops in the yarn give the loops the finishing touch, almost like a fur.
The collar, collar and collar of the jacket are knitted with lifting stitches, with Trio 2 and Alpaka 1 knitted together, which in my opinion gives a nice contrast to the furry loops.
I really enjoyed putting my own stamp on one of Åse’s recipes.

Exciting background information about the Isager Archive collection, by Helga Isager:
