There are those moments in the store, usually very early, when the door is still locked, everything is neat and it is simply quiet. The wool lies quite quietly on the shelves, everywhere there is order and yes, somewhere the coffee in the corner steams. Then it's nice, really nice. But then it's also only Wool. Only when you come in do all these beautiful moments happen that we simply cannot plan. Then our shop and all the wool lying around here become “wool + wonder”.
Life comes in with you. A “I actually don’t need anything” that almost always ends differently. A project that is shown briefly because you are not quite sure. Or an idea that has been sprouting around in the head for days and is now finally being pronounced. It is precisely these little things that make everyday life for us.
Over the last year we have experienced so many of these moments together with you that this post just feels right now, just before Christmas. It is this time when it smells like cookies, Christmas carols are playing in the background – songs that we have probably heard a little too often at this point – and you automatically get a little nostalgic. Exactly then we would like to take a moment and review the most beautiful memories with you before we all say goodbye to the holidays. Before Sabine devotes herself entirely to her Christmas cookies, with which she was richly gifted (because baking is not one of her strengths), drinks milk coffee, finally flips through all the new knitting books she has taken home, and continues to knit her UFOs.
We have knitted a lot, but also written a lot about knitting without a summer break, about holiday luggage with a little too much wool in it and about yarns that still fascinate us today.
And then suddenly there was this one article. He bears the strange name.Wool, which is more important than strip-free windows“. Quite honestly, we still do not know what exactly happened there. Suddenly it was read, read and read. Over 33,000 knitters have called him. We just stood there shaking our heads and thinking, Aha. Obviously, it is not only us and we still marvel at it today.
This amazement also accompanies us in all the encounters that made this year so special. Sabine was again on the road at fairs. New impressions, great conversations, a lot of inspiration and of course a lot of new wool to take home. Then there were those visits, which simply have something unique. For example, when Monika and Ulrike from Baden near Vienna take the long way to us in the shop, it feels special every time.
And some stories get stuck anyway. Like the wife of a passionate classic car collector who laughed and told us how shocked her husband stood in front of her closet full of wool. Too much, he said. Until she just looked at him quietly and suggested, but to take a closer look into his garage.
You are all of that. You bring these stories with you, you share them with us, you make our shop and the wool in it alive.
Especially in the last few weeks, in this often quite intensive pre-Christmas period, we have become particularly aware of this again. There were an incredible number of packages. A lot of them, really. And yes, something once went wrong with this crowd. Or twice. In the case of a customer, even one after the other. Instead of anger came understanding and kindness. For that we simply want to say thank you. For your patience and your warmth.
Okay guys, but now enough with it, otherwise we will actually come to tears in the end. And although a bit of emotion at Christmas time is almost part of it, this article should not be about howls, but – of course – about knitting. And what comes next, all those who have read our last two posts, can probably already imagine.
Yeah, that's right. The talk is of the Isager Archives 2 Collection. Meanwhile, all designs are finally online and what should we say: We are not disappointed at all. Quite the opposite. However, we believe that this time we do not have to say too many words – we have already done this extensively in the last two contributions anyway. That’s why today we make it a bit easier and just let the pictures speak for themselves.
So now for the next important part of this article. Even if we are on 20. Dezember Maybe it's a little bit early, we think, now is finally the right moment for the Wool + Wonder of Christmas presents. If, however, you are strictly against everything that after the gift before the 24. December looks, then stop reading at this point and go on again on Wednesday. We can well understand that. For us, for example, the song “Silent Night” before the gift on Christmas Eve has absolutely nothing lost, which is why we either switch off the radio throughout December or close our ears completely unobtrusively as soon as it sounds somewhere.
All right, to get in the mood now, let’s imagine something together. A Christmas tree, of course, not an ordinary one. But a woolly colorful, with Christmas tree balls made of wool, soft stitches instead of Lametta and gifts underneath, which – how could it be otherwise – are also packed in wool. If your imagination needs a little bit of support at this point, we are happy to help:

Do you see this one very special gift under the tree? That is exactly what we are unpacking together. It contains yarns that we had in our shop a few years ago. At that time, unfortunately, the cooperation did not feel quite right for us, even if you love the wool itself very much.
In the meantime, however, a lot has happened. We have been promised that a lot has changed and that is why we dare to do it again. With a lot of hope and quite honestly also with a bit of anticipation. Because we have never forgotten these colors.
The talk is of the Skinny Singles from Hedgehog FibresShe has just returned to us.
We hope, of course, that you will have as much joy with this gift as we do. And if not, no problem at all. Really not. Then, of course, it can be exchanged. Maybe against a different ball, a different color or immediately against a new idea. How about, for example, the Emiscarf from Sinchens, to which Lasse hat from Paula-m, to which My José Scarf from NORgardknitters or the Uma Scarf from PetiteKnit?
Perhaps one of them is exactly the right project for you to tackle it comfortably between the holidays.
But now we release you into the fourth weekend of Advent and say thank you again from the heart for this beautiful year together and all the many moments you have shared with us. We wish you a Merry Christmas, relaxed holidays, plenty of time for knitting and of course already a good slide into the new year.
Wir lesen uns dann am 3. JännerWhen everyday life slowly returns.
PS: Because we did not want to interrupt the Christmas magic in the middle of the text, something organizational at the end: We are also there for you between the holidays – our shop is open and the shipping continues as normal. Sandnes Garn He also continues to deliver. Lediglich Lamana and Lang Yarns take a short break and are from the 6. Jänner back there.
