About the Design
The Grace Sweater is inspired by Marianne Isager’s Majs Sweater from the 80s and 90s. The beautiful graphic pattern aroused my curiosity: So how can I develop a new, modern design that still carries this inspiration?
In the design process, I quickly approached a vision that expresses both calm and movement. After many experiments, sketches and even more gauges, the continuous graphic and linear pattern emerged: vertical lines that run like a scenic echo and create a rhythmic calm with timeless power.
The fit is easily oversized and modern, making the sweater versatile to combine – regardless of season or wardrobe.
The Grace Sweater is a tribute to modern Nordic knitting – a design that gracefully carries its history from the past to the present.
Konstruktion
First, stitches for the right shoulder of the back part are struck. This little piece is knitted with increases. Then the left shoulder is knitted in the same way. Subsequently, the two shoulder pieces are connected to each other with newly folded stitches, so that the back part is created. This is knitted up to the specified length.
Stitches for the right and left front parts are then picked up. Both front parts are worked separately with increases along the neck edge, then connected in the middle and knitted to the specified length.
When the front and back parts are connected, the body is knitted in rounds until the fret is worked. Finally, the sleeves are knitted individually and the neckline.
The sweater is seamlessly knitted.
