Guys, what's been going on for the last two weeks, please?
We do not know how you have been, but in the meantime we really have reached the point where one wondered if one could still conceive any clear thought in this heat. Thank goodness it is getting a little bit more bearable now. So at least so tolerable that you are not already overwhelmed by the mere thought of moving.
Sabine himself really hates heat. Not just a little bit, but rather in the category: Already in the morning a headache, if she cleans around in the camp a bit too motivated or thinks again that she has to do five things quickly at the same time. In such phases, it would be more reasonable to adjust the working hours or procedures somewhat. Start earlier, move heavy stuff, slow down, drink more, all things you actually know and still consistently ignore.
Like many others, she just continues to pull through and then wonders why the head says at half past eleven: “That was it for today actually.”
What really surprised us in the last hot days: There were no dead pants in the store at all. On the contrary, there were even really strong days. Actually, at such temperatures, one expects everyone to lie somewhere in the shade, move as little as possible and at most even consider whether one can count ice cream as a full-fledged meal.
But many customers have told us that they simply do not go big in this heat.
And then what do you do? Genau. You stay inside and knit.
To be honest, this is the most sympathetic solution ever. Others lose patience in the heat, we lose at most briefly the overview of the stitches and then of course only for this reason the patience.
But it also shows again that knitting is not only winter, tea, candlelight and thick socks. Knitting also works with a fan, cold drink, open windows and the firm intention to leave the house only when everything is no longer flickering outside. Maybe not necessarily with the heaviest wool project on your lap, but a light summer top or any project that does not go through as a hot water bottle, actually always works.
Then, despite the heat, there are still moments in our shop that make us particularly happy. Just in the last few days we have again received such lovely feedback. Not only when everything goes perfectly, but also when something is not quite ideal.
A customer, yes, you read correctly, it was a gentleman, wrote to us, for example, that he unfortunately had knots in the yarn with several balls. So actually exactly the kind of message where you briefly wince inside, because of course you know: This is annoying. Very much so. At the same time, however, he also wrote:
Thanks to Split Splice, the anger is limited. But as an absolute wool lover of this brand, I just wanted to briefly report back. But to also give you feedback and not just hum your ears: You and your team, you definitely make the life of us wool freaks more beautiful.
Honestly, how lovely can you please be?
Of course, we are not happy about knots in the yarn. Really not. But such feedback simply shows us again how special this knitting community is. You say when something doesn’t fit, but many of you still manage to stay kind, appreciative, and even humorous.
And this in this heat. This is almost a discipline of its own.
In any case, we find it very impressive that you dear knitters apparently do not completely lose the frame even at 34 degrees. Because if you still remain friendly in the summer heat, gluing hands and a project that maybe not quite as you want anyway, then that is already a form of strength of character.
Maybe that’s exactly why we like our knitting community so much. It’s simulated, tried out, sometimes annoyed for a short time, then laughed again and in the end just kept knitted. And this even when the asphalt is glowing outside and the fan is doing its best inside.
Summer heat and knitting may not sound like the most logical combination at first. But somehow it fits. You stay inside, make yourself as comfortable as possible and continue working row by row. Without stress and in the best case with a project that does not bring you to sweat in addition.
So in case you were wondering if it’s weird to think of wool at these temperatures: No. With us you are even in the best company.
As I said, a summer top is always possible and a summer knitting project for everyone who can not completely without stitches even in heat, that would be Row Top from Odd Row. The tank top is knitted from top to bottom and gets a particularly cool look due to the fine roller edges on the neck and arm cutouts.
Very nice we also find the Flow Loop Top from Otherloops. In the original it is knitted with cashmere and that is exactly how we have created the knitting kit for you. If you prefer it a little more summery, but of course can also resort to a lighter material.
Suitable alternatives we link to you right below.
They also Cottonwaves from Gepard Garn It's a really nice wool for the summer. And because of course we can not just mention a summer wool without directly having suitable projects in mind, there are also two knitting kits for you.
A slightly airier variant and a slightly more attractive one. We're both honestly great.
A bit more elaborate, but also particularly beautiful, this is Lacy Loop Top from Otherloops. It has a classic cut, a wide submarine neckline and gets a very special look due to the fine stripes of left stitches, the feminine hole pattern and the characteristic ribbed collar.
If the thermometer eventually climbs back to under 25 degrees Celsius, then this would be brand new Whale Tee from Marianne Isager It's a very nice choice.
The T-shirt is started at the neckline with Raglan shaping and knitted from top to bottom. As a result, the sleeves can be easily adapted to the desired length. So a project that also leaves a little leeway, if you prefer to have it shorter or longer.
And finally, the Every Day Loop Blouse from OtherloopsSimply because it’s really a beautiful design. Perhaps it is something for the transition period, because currently you would probably get a heat stroke in it.
But you can still start knitting and pretend you are just particularly well prepared.
Well, although, we still have a highlight for you: We have the new Laine Magazin bestellt. And not just any one, but the tenth anniversary edition. The magazine will be published on 30.07., but you can already pre-order it with us.
That's it for today. We are now dedicating ourselves to our knitting projects again and are demonstrating very intensively that the temperatures remain below 35 degrees. To be honest, we would not have thought that we would have to say this here in our latitudes.
As always, we wish you a lot of joy and success in all your knitting projects and look forward to providing you with new Strickinspo in two weeks.
