CONSTRUCTION
The vest is worked top-down. The back piece is worked first, and short rows shape the shoulder slopes.
Increases are worked for the armholes before the back is set aside.
Stitches are then picked up along the shoulder slopes to work the front piece. Short rows shape the shoulder slopes, and decreases are worked at the back neck edge before increases shape the armhole and front neckline.
The right and left shoulders are joined at the front using a loop cast-on. The rest of the front is worked down to match the back.
The rib panels used to join the front and back pieces are started separately before being joined to the main body. After joining at each side, the rib panels are decreased using raglan decreases.
The body is worked down and finished with a wide rib hem and an Italian bind-off.
The neckline is worked after picking up stitches from the outer and inner neck edges. The outer stitches are worked with a folded edge and bound off elastically together with the inner stitches.
The wings are worked in pattern repeats and short rows as instructed after picking up stitches along the rib panel and armhole edge. They are bound off after a purl-edge border.
