Why Unfinished Christmas Gifts Are Better Than Their Reputation

There is in almost every family – and you don’t have to pretend you don’t know anyone – exactly this one person who just never manages to get homemade Christmas presents ready on time until Christmas Eve. Those who still enthusiastically talk about this year’s “I’ll start this year really early!” plan in November, and then find out sometime in mid-December that they were perhaps a little too optimistic. December has this talent to seem infinite at first and suddenly – schwupps – it is almost over. And while you think you have time forever, you're on the 22nd or 23rd. There in December and contemplate a half-finished piece of knitting that has decided to take a more cozy route this year.

Maybe you know this person from your family. Maybe you are that person. (We just say it.) But honestly, we find this wonderfully human. Because an unfinished knitted gift has its own loving charm. It’s like saying, I’m already on my way to you. Wirklich. I just need one more bite.’ And somehow that’s nice. It shows that someone has thought of you long before Christmas and will/must think of you for a while after Christmas. Evening after evening, while outside perhaps the January wind already whistles or maybe even the first pile of snow melt.

And just because you didn’t manage to finish the gift doesn’t mean you’re standing empty-handed on Christmas Eve. Such a half-finished gift can be given wonderfully. You put it together very carefully, wrap a nice ribbon around it, insert the yarn and preferably a small slip of paper to it. Something like: “I knit even further, I promise.” This is exactly what usually makes for a happy smile, because it does not look like stress, but like a lot of love.

Let’s be honest: Whoever gets such a gift, actually gets two. One for Christmas – which of course you have to give back well in order to continue knitting. Sometime later, as a small surprise package in the new year, when the good piece is finally finished and suddenly comes officially as a “Christmas present with delay”.

And exactly these later packets in January, February or May always have something magical, don’t you think? Such a small, unexpected ray of hope in the middle of the year, which sweetens the day and is somehow almost more beautiful than the actual gift under the Christmas tree.

Therefore: Yes, we all have them, this one person and we believe Christmas would be a little less heartfelt if she suddenly managed everything in time. Because some gifts just need their time.

For those of you who still like their gifts Fixed and finished To have together until Christmas Eve – and now please be able to proudly nod for a moment – we have of course also given some thought. Project bags and needle sets are pretty far ahead in the race every year.

This time we were really lucky: we could actually have three black „Project 26“ Results of Re:Designed. Yes, the very ones we thought we wouldn't get anymore. (We feel a little bit like gift waffles ourselves.)

A particularly noble gift would also be the Chiaogoo Nadelset Forté 2.0 Or maybe we should do it right away. Luxury needle set nennen? This is officially one of those things that you would never buy yourself, but parked on some wish list ... in the hope that someone reads along.

But just look for yourself:

So folks, now it gets really serious – or really exciting. We are finally getting to the point that we have already half teased you about two weeks ago (and we know very well that many of you have been waiting impatiently ever since). Drum roll please...
Of course, it is about the new Isager Archives 2 Collection.

The previous collection has already taken us on a journey into the 60s and 70s, inspired by the designs of the wonderful Åse Lund Jensen. This time it goes on into the next decades: the 80s and 90s, based on the huge sample archive of Marianne Isager.

Sabine said in love recently: “I especially like this collection – probably because I am a child of the 80s.” There is so much nostalgia in it and at the same time so much modern knitting feeling.

For the collection, 15 of the most talented knitting designers have once againinnen Denmark gathered in Tversted on a weekend and were allowed to browse Marianne’s extensive archive. All have picked one or more samples and created a design for the new Archives 2 collection.

Among other things, they include:
Anne Ventzel, Camilla WieseWieseknit), Hanne Rimmen, Helga Jona, Julie Parboimadeit.knit), Karoline Skovgaard Bentsen (Aegyo Knit), Katja Dyrberg (p_o_p_k_n_i_t), Kirsten Nørgaard (Norgardknit), Lene Holme Samsøe (Le Knit), Lene Rix (Odd Row), Louise Rasmussen (My Favourite Things Knitwear), Maja Kløvdal (Other Loops), Mette Okkels (PetiteKnit), Norgaard Knitters, Rikke BangsgaardRefined Knitwear) and Tine Rousing (Knitthing_).

Also ja: PetiteKnit, Anne Ventzel and Co. This is going to be really mega.

The first three designs from Isager Archives 2 have already appeared. After that, it continues blow by blow: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until the 19th. A new one will be added in December 2025.

We have already created the first knitting kits for you:

And because we know you (and know how quickly you get curious about it), we have created a knitting kit for you. The manual is only available in English, but honestly: translation with AI now works so well that you actually understand what to knit.

The new ATLAS Sandne's yarn has struck you like lightning. As soon as we had unlocked the quality in the webshop, the first orders fluttered in – we were surprised how fast you were.

HIER You will find a first selection of knitting kits. And what the PetiteKnit colours As always, they are the first ones to make themselves rare. But don’t worry, we have ordered properly – there is definitely enough.

Super Last Minute and really just in time before this post goes online, also has Anne Ventzel Published a new design. And of course, we absolutely have to include that. The JILLI JAM is a really cozy raglan sweater, with great details: either entangled rib bundles or a curved edge at the bottom end. Both look incredibly charming and feel the same way – a real feel-good piece, we think.

But now we say goodbye to the knitting weekend. We hope it was again one or the other inspiration for you and maybe we could even make the search for suitable Christmas gifts a bit easier for someone. Be it because you now know that a delayed gift is perfectly fine (and often especially loving), or because our suggestions included just the right thing for you.

Anyway: We wish you good luck, lots of cozy stitches and a wonderful weekend. We will read each other in two weeks.
