Otherloops on the design:„ZOE LOOP SWEATER is my contribution to the joint collection Isager Archives 2, based on Marianne Isager’s iconic designs from the 80s and 90s.
The sweater builds on two of their classic models: Kelim, in which the graphic zigzag pattern of right and left stitches forms the basis, and Drops, whose characteristic bees – elevated, striking lines – give the design a clear graphic expression. At the beginning of the design process, I focused exclusively on the Kelim model and worked with its structure in combination with colored stripes – in the spirit of the original. After many experiments with color combinations and gauges, I realized that I wanted to highlight the graphic zigzag pattern more clearly and make the rest of the design more calm. This led me to incorporate the distinctive bees of Drops instead of the colored stripes, giving the design a more subtle and balanced expression, where the structure really comes out.
Konstruktion
The sweater is worked from top to bottom. First, stitches are struck for the back, which are then worked in rows with shortened rows to shape the upper part of the back. Stitches are picked up along the shoulder edge to further knit both shoulders separately. These are then connected to the front and new stitches are strung between them. Front and back are connected, knitted down in rounds, ended with a ribbed tuft and chained off Italian. Stitches are picked up around the neckline, which are worked in rounds in the rib pattern. The collar is finished with a contrast color and chained off Italian. Around the arm cutouts, stitches for the sleeves are then picked up, which are also worked down in rounds, finished with frets and chained Italian. In several places, bees are made in contrast colors. Throughout the entire sweater, a pattern of right and left stitches is worked following the diagrams.
