We remember exactly how we sat next to our grandma on the couch as children and watched her in fascination while knitting. While she produced socks or gloves for half the relatives with impressive serenity, we bravely dared to use our very first scarf. Sure, he was sometimes more colorful than we liked and constantly changed shape – suddenly much too wide, then again much too narrow. But we were incredibly proud and couldn’t get enough of knitting.
Such moments still make us smile in the face today. And so the thought came to us: Why should we knitters not also pass this warm feeling on to our own children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews? Children learn incredibly fast and are full of enthusiasm as soon as they are allowed to try something new. There you can go under it and beyond: Lost stitches or wild color changes make every knitted piece even more charming and unmistakable.
Before now voices are heard claiming that we do not know that knitting needles can be dangerous for children Don’t worry, we’re aware of that. But we are not talking about letting a toddler walk through the apartment alone with rattling needles. Once kids are old enough to handle it safely, knitting is a wonderful hobby that is not only fun, but also encourages creativity and patience. And honestly: If we grant them the right age and a bit of supervision, the risk is manageable – after all, we have survived knitting in childhood even unscathed.
The most beautiful thing is that when we knit together, we not only turn wool into a piece of clothing, but also create lasting memories. We sit together, chat about this and that, and together we look forward to every step forward. And when a tiny hood-skewed knit or a squeaky scarf is created, the joy is even greater – no matter how perfect or imperfect the part looks at the end.
In addition, we kill two birds with one stone: We go back on a little time travel back to our own knitting beginnings and at the same time pass on this special craft to the next generation. We find this a very nice idea.
And if the children are not old enough to reach for the needles together with you? No drama! Then wrap it up over both ears in your knitted masterpieces. Whether blankets, sweaters or dresses - the main thing is self-knitting. And yes, a bit of self-interest is quite allowed, after all, you can be proud of your knitting skills.
With baby blankets and the “Baby Cotton Naturally Colored” by Lang Yarns, which we have presented in detail in our last article, we start today. Our three favorites Edda, Magnus and Loki by Lang Yarns, all are cuddly soft and decorated in timeless designs. Loki scores with a beautiful pattern, Magnus brings an elegant touch to the nursery and Edda radiates happiness through the playful knitted image.
Who believes that the baby blankets are already delightful, has the new children's collection of Sandnes Garn Not yet seen. The words are missing, so sweet are the designs. Therefore, we do not want to text you about it at all, but rather let the pictures speak for themselves.

Sabine’s absolute favorite part from the collection is the Summer Dress. And because she has neither children nor grandchildren, she will probably knit the dress for the shop window - so that at least everyone else can enjoy this magical piece.
What Sabine does not knit for the shop window, but all for himself, is the Olga Sweater – We have already briefly presented it to you two weeks ago. Despite small interruptions (she had to quickly get a Sophie Hood Needles) takes the good piece right now shape. And let’s be honest: Are you as far away from the colors as we are – and above all like Sabine?

Das nächste Thema ist eine richtige Herzensangelegenheit von uns – Die neue Kollektion von Helga Isager.
Every 5–7 days a new model comes out and we always put the knitting kits online for you – you will find them HIER.
The inspiration of this collection? We would like to tell you about this in the words of Helga Isager:
The weavers of the Bauhaus art school have fascinated me for a long time. In 1919, the Bauhaus was founded in the city of Weimar in Germany with the aim of integrating art and craft into people’s everyday lives. This involved both the redesign of interiors and the architectural exterior design.
When I started researching for this collection, I was particularly captivated by a design for a textile work by Gunta Stöltz. It was obvious to me to use the beautiful colors and the wealth of geometric patterns offered by this design for knitting designs. This one piece alone could have already been the basis for a complete collection. But in the course of the process, I was also inspired by the impressive work of the weavers Anni Albers and Otti Berger.
No wonder, then, that we have looked at this collection right away. After all, we are real fans of Danish design – whether it’s architecture, furniture, tableware, interiors or fashion.
What we are particularly pleased about: As soon as the first knitting kit was published, the first order was already received – the Anni Cowl He made his way directly to Germany. It is simply wonderful to see when our design suggestions are so well received by you!
Actually, there is so much more news that we would like to show you, but of course we have to save a bit for our next blog post in two weeks. So you may be curious!
In the meantime, we’re going to the next week. H+H Cologne – a trade fair for women wool traders in Cologne. This is a real big event in the industry and of course for us. We want to look around there extensively, visit our existing suppliers and discover a lot of new products. And who knows, maybe Sabine falls in love head over heels again and promptly brings a whole new wool company to Kolsass. If it comes like this, you will of course find out in 14 days at the latest.
Until then: Have fun knitting and we will read each other soon!
