Our lovely spring issue Laine 20, Waterways, invites you to spend a day by the sea with us. The issue includes ten beautiful and unique knits perfect for the season: the kind that will keep you warm on the first spring days when you can’t get enough of the outdoors but still need that extra layer to keep you warm.

Designers featured in this issue: Rebecca Clow, Lily Kate France, Eliza Hinkes, Susanna Kaartinen, Marzena Kołaczek, Marion Mursic, Joey Poh, Olga Putano, Qing Studio and Thea Vesterby.

This issue’s photos were taken in Suomenlinna: an inhabited sea fortress in the Baltic Sea, just in front of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. They depict a lazy day spent by the sea — you can almost smell the salty air and feel the soft breeze in your hair!

Let your knitting bloom! This issue features not one but two designs that are decorated with flowers. The little embroidered buds in Marion Mursic’s Sea Salt hoodie are created using French knots, lazy daisy stitch and spider stitch, and Joey Poh’s In Bloom socks feature tiny flowers protected by a dainty trellis.

In the articles, we meet the Finnish knitwear designer Jenny Ansah who wants to bring a stronger sense of community to the world of handicrafts, and Maria Zeb Benjamin, the co-founder of The Wool Library: a grassroots organisation that celebrates British wool.
