Do you know the feeling when you have been looking for a series for weeks or months, have looked forward to it every day a little bit and then suddenly it is there, the last episode? Abspann. Ende. You sit on the couch and think to yourself: Okay, what should I do with my life now?
Maybe a little overdone. But somehow also completely real.
By the way, we knitters know this feeling not only from series that have completely co-opted us, but also from our knitting projects. Or rather, of the moments after the knitting project. After the chaining.
So we're finally done with that. The last stitches knitted, the thread pulled through and then it lies there. Usually really got really beautiful, no question. You're also a little bit proud. Rightly so, of course. And yet this strange feeling creeps in pretty quickly. Such a quiet emptiness. Similar to the last episode of a series, when you suddenly no longer know what to do with yourself and your time.
And then it happens. You get up, walk a little aimlessly around the area, look at the finished knit again, put it down again and decide in doubt even to block it – just so you can irgendwas It has to do.
But let’s be honest: it doesn’t last long. Somewhere between “I just look again briefly” and “actually I am finished” this very clear thought arises: I need a new one Knittedrojekt, but immediately.
And this is where, at this point in the life of a knitter, we come into play.
Because honestly, we are sometimes a little bit like therapists for people who are finished with their knitting project and no longer know where to go.
Then you come to us in the shop, show the finished piece with a little pride and say the next moment: “So I’m finished and now I have no idea what to do.”
It is precisely in this situation that we can actually have a lot of empathy and understanding. Exactly what you just need at this moment.
Once you get caught up a little bit again, and after you’ve maybe slipped into a little bit of self-pity (belongs to it somehow), we slowly start working on solving the problem. The first project proposals are carefully made, woolballs are pressed into the hand and – very importantly – also briefly held on the cheek.
This part can take a bit, according to experience. But don’t worry, that’s exactly what we are here to accompany you in this challenging time. With a little bit of a wink, hopefully it goes without saying.
And then it suddenly happens: You hold exactly the wool in your hand, which finally takes this feeling of emptiness away from you. You suddenly know exactly what will become of it and what the next evenings will look like.
Of course, we always want the best for you and maybe we can spare you this little “And now?” feeling next time.
That's why we've thought about it before. So that you do not even get into the situation in which you suddenly no longer know where to go with you, we want to introduce you today a very great knitting designer and her designs. Designs in which you can take a look around and maybe even decide before the current knitting project is even finished.
There is talk of Mr Mortensen,, where the passion for knitting began quite early. At only eight years old, her grandmother taught her knitting and somehow she has stayed with her since then.
First she designed and knitted sweaters for herself, later also for her whole family. Her designs are created entirely out of her own taste, especially color and pattern combinations have appealed to her and run through many of her designs.
Through her work as a handicraft teacher at a Waldorf school, the interest in her designs became ever greater. At some point it was clear: this is not only for own use, and so she started selling her instructions a few years ago.
If you want to knit designs by Elenor Mortensen, you come to the SINGLES from LITLG Actually hardly over. We have recently added some new colors to the range here and at the same time increased our continuous burners.
And yes, maybe in the last article we said a bit too early that spring is finally here. The winter has caught up with us again. But honestly, it's not that bad. So we can at least give you our new knitting kits for the colder days.
In keeping with the colder temperatures, we also have really cute baby blankets from Lang Yarns for you.
And as is the case with such projects – of course, you can just knit them bigger and make them for adults. It may take a little longer, but the cuddle factor remains the same.
That was it for today.
We hope we have been able to save one or the other of you from this inner emptiness after the finished knitting project or that you feel at least a little relieved because you now know that you are not alone with this feeling.
And if it catches you: We are there and gladly accompany you through these difficult “What am I doing now?” moments.
Until then, good luck and we read each other again in two weeks.
