Unbelievable, right? In less than three weeks it will be Christmas! Sometimes it feels like we were just sitting on a summer vacation yesterday, with a knitting project on our knees and toes in the sand. But now the days are dark, the temperatures are icy, and for many, the most stressful time of the year begins. Buying gifts, baking cookies, decorating the house – everything should be perfect. And yet, every year, we ask, Why are we actually doing this to ourselves?
This is where we would like to pick you up. Our contributions are there to give you little time off. We want you to be able to turn off a few minutes every two weeks when you click on the link of our new article – moments just for you, away from stress and to-do lists. That’s why we don’t just want to shower you with more gift ideas in the run-up to Christmas (even if we had them of course), but we want to invite you to find some peace first.
So how about you consciously create small feel-good moments in this hectic time?
Knitting for the soul
Grab your favorite yarn and start knitting – but this time without any pressure. It does not always have to come out of a finished project. Just knitting on it, just for yourself, can be wonderfully relaxing and help to clear your head.
Enjoying nature
Even if the days are short, cold and often gray: a walk can do real miracles. Pack yourself warm and just trudge. Time in nature is in hectic times, balm for the soul.
Going on a journey
Now you may be wondering how travelling during Advent can help relax when it is hectic almost everywhere in the world and crowds are pushing through the streets. But traveling is not the same as traveling!
We thought about taking you on a short relaxation trip today directly in our article. What do you think of this?
Together we will make our way to Japan. Now, you might be thinking, What does Japan have to do with wool & knitting? Quite a lot!
Marianne Isager gibt euch in ihrem letzten Band der Trilogie “A KNITTING LIFE – TOKYO TVERSTED” die Antwort darauf:
My uncle Niels gave me two beautiful Japanese woodcuts for confirmation. Since then, I have been fascinated by Japanese art, and when Japanese fashion designers came to the West, my interest in Japanese culture and history in this fascinating country was aroused.
In 2001, I met my husband Nels, who was working and living in Tokyo at the time. This led to 15 years of commuting between Japan and Denmark and many fantastic experiences.
When knitting, I am always inspired by things in my environment, both in everyday life and when travelling. That’s why it was a great source of inspiration for me to live in Japan for a long time. This book tells the story of my life in Japan and some of the inspiration I received on my travels.
We do not need more words for this, but want to let pictures speak:

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed our little excursion and could take a little inspiration for yourself. If you don’t have enough of it yet, the book might also be a nice idea as a Christmas present – for yourself, of course.
However, we would like to give you a little tip: maybe wait until after the stressful Christmas season before you dare to take on these beautiful designs. The instructions are quite demanding and deserve your full attention - ideal for quiet winter days, where you can concentrate on your knitting project.
Don’t worry, of course we have prepared knitting inspirations for you again, which you can immerse yourself in immediately.
My Favorite Things Knitwear I Sweater No. 30
This super stylish sweater is truly an all-rounder – it just stands for everyone and can be combined into everything. He is bound with the noble Yak from Lang Yarns, a dreamlike mixture of merino and yak. Granted, the yarn is not quite cheap, but we can assure you: it is worth every penny. We love it hot and intimate and have knit many favorite pieces from it.
What makes the yak so special? It becomes more beautiful over time. The yarn develops a delicate fluff reminiscent of Kashmir, but remains incredibly robust and does not pill. And we are not the only ones who rave so enthusiastically – many of our customers can also confirm this.
The sweater is currently so popular that the first hamster purchases have already taken place – when the translation of the manual was not even online! Of course, this made us listening, and we made provision: The original color has almost completely arrived in our warehouse, and we immediately ordered a large stock. If another color conquers your heart, we can re-order it at the touch of a button.
Anne Ventzel I SAILOR SOFT
The material combination of this sweater is really a Kuschelwahnsinn! The Snefnug from CaMaRose It’s a small miracle in itself: a super-soft mixture with alpaca that feels incredibly pleasant on the skin. And if that weren't enough, then it would be enough. Silk Mohair from Isager One more on top of that. The sweater is knitted double-threaded with both yarns – a perfect match.
And now it’s time: With every sale of the manual Anne Ventzel donates 20 DKK an Unicef Because a follower pointed out to Anne that the stripes in the design look like people who stand side by side and hold hands. Isn’t that a wonderful thought right now in the run-up to Christmas?
Otherloops I Trio Loop Sweater
Today, we just can’t get enough of sweaters – so we’ll put one on top of it! With the „Gepardchunkycollection“ Gepard Garn has launched a number of designs.
The name is program, because here it gets really chunky! We firmly believe that once the sweater is finished, you can simply turn off the heating for the rest of the winter – crazy, right?
Speaking of crazy, our Sabine immediately comes to mind. After all, she is the one who regularly inspires us with her creative and sometimes slightly “crazy” way. Also this week she has a few personal highlights for you.
Experience has shown that it is best if Sabine simply reports himself:
“Who knows me knows: In real life I am sometimes a little bit crazy – and that’s exactly why I love the designs of Le Pull. Behind this is Katharina, a young knitting designer from France.
You can find them on Instagram at: @le_pull_le_pull.
What do I like about her? It is “red-naked” – in the best sense! I love their charisma and their designs, even though I could never wear any of them myself. I just lack the right figure ... or let’s say I personally find that I have a bit too much figure for it. But hey, it doesn’t matter, because she’s just super cute, and I think you should definitely check in with her!
The instructions are only available in English, but I’m sure: We can do it easily, right?
Two of their designs fit us perfectly – figure-independent and really cool:
There was a lot going on here today, and we hope you could escape the Christmas hustle and bustle for a few minutes and take a breath. But now we are slowly getting you back to the ground – because let’s be honest: The Christmas season, however hectic and chaotic it may be at times, just belongs to a year.
That is why we say: let us make the best of it! Let’s make home comfortable during this time and bring back the magic of the Advent season with a bit of homemade Christmas decoration.
With that in mind, we wish you a wonderful time. We will read each other in two weeks.
