WOLLE & STAUNE · BLOG & NEWS

Rome, Wool & a Portion of Dolce Vita

Usually we are talking about stitches, yarns, instructions and knitting projects. And don’t worry – we’ll get to that today. But before that, we have to digress for a moment. Sabine was on his way. Not somewhere, but in Rome. What he sees (or does not see) not And we want to tell you that first today. So, briefly push the wool basket aside and sniff out Roman air.

Together with her mother and her sister, Sabine has made her way to Rome – with rather modest enthusiasm. Heat, crowds, and chaos were her concerns.

Attention, spoilers: In the end, the trip became a full success and Rome a real highlight for Sabine. Between churches, history, art, pizza, pasta and – how else – a certain orange drink in the wine glass with orange slice, there was something for everyone.

The three have experienced Rome in quick pass: Spanish Stairs, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain (which, by the way, according to Sabine, is beautiful but officially in the category) „Panik weil Menschenmassen“ fällt), Vatikan, Petersplatz und Dom, Innenstadt hoch und runter. Ein Sightseeing-Programm, das selbst gestandene Reiseleiter blass aussehen lässt – alles bis ins kleinste Detail von Sabines Schwester geplant. Und fortbewegt hat man sich stilecht mit den öffentlichen Bussen. Chaotisch? Ja. Authentisch? Oh ja!

And of course, how could it be otherwise, the knitwear was in the luggage. Sabine had two projects – you never know. Project number one: Bam Bam Bow from Anne Ventzel. Ambitiously battered, highly motivated started... and then, let’s say, slightly influenced by the Aperol. Because counting stitches after a city walk plus one or two of these Italian spray delicacies may not be the best idea. Twenty rows later it was said: to separate everything again and at the beginning. The second project – the Vita Scarf from Le Knit – Then preferred to stay directly in the bag. A packaged project cannot go wrong either.

The bottom line was that the knitwear remained largely untouched – but there were plenty of impressions, good food, lots of laughter and a decent portion of “La Dolce Vita”.

And now? Now Sabine is back at home or in the shop and we officially return to the woolly everyday life, because we know something always happens with us. Today we would like to introduce you to a small special feature that many of our shop customers have known (and love) for a long time: Our own Wool + Staune knitting bags!

For more than two years they have been accompanying us in the business – as loyal project companions, lovingly selected gifts or simply as pretty helpers in everyday life. And now they have finally made it into our webshop!

Whether you have just worked on mini socks or have worked on a full-body project – we have the right bag for every project:

Best of all: The bags are printed with a lot of love and care by a small business owner from Innsbruck – she is not only a creative power woman, but also one of our customers. She knits (really good), sews now, has a “normal” job, a family and still an open ear when we come around the corner with our bag ideas.

In short: a real Tyrolean heroine in terms of manual work.

We are very happy that our bags are now finally available in the webshop – so now all online regular customers can stow their projects in style. So that you do not have to worry about what you should pack in the small or large bags, Sabine has of course thought along as always.

Suitable for the season – and inspired by the sun, city walks and a bit of Italian lifestyle – she has put together some summer knitting ideas for you this time. Apparently, the trip to Rome has even caused a small change of heart in the otherwise rather heat-shy Sabine.

This week she has especially the Danish label Aegyoknit inspiriert. The designer Karoline stands for modern knitting patterns that make something right: minimalist, with a lot of attention to detail and often beautifully oversized. Their designs combine Scandinavian simplicity with a touch of Korean style – a mix that immediately catches the eye. Each of her models also has a small story, because Karoline thinks not only about knitting, but also about the feeling that comes from wearing it.

Before we forget it from all the holiday euphoria and our signature bags: Tomorrow is Mother's Day!

For all those who may still be looking for a loving last-minute gift for their knit-loving mom, we still have two particularly beautiful ideas in mind. The Sweater No. 32 from My Favorite Things Knitwear and the Chantal Collar Cardigan from Moreca Knit Both are projects with a lot of potential for the new favorite piece.

Don’t worry, no one has to take these two pieces of jewelry on the needles until Sunday – that would be rather difficult anyway in terms of time (realistically). But how about one Wool + Staun Voucher? He is quickly worried and with a small hint on one of these two knitting kits you make your mom not only a joy, but also a desire for the next project.

And because it fits so nicely: We greet not only all moms of small and big human children, but also all who care lovingly for their woolballs – basically: all of you. Feel warmly addressed.

Make a really good day – with knitting time, coffee, cake or just what you want & we read us again, as always, in 14 days.
