The Chantal Collar Cardigan is knitted from top to bottom in a lifting mesh pattern. First, the base for the collar is knitted smoothly to the right in the round, then stitches are picked up along the folding edge and the collar is worked in rows in the double knit, while it gets its shape through shortened rows and increases. Then the collar is joined together and the stitches are divided into sections for the shoulders, fore-ends and back, all knitted separately in rows and formed with shortened rows.
Once they are finished, the front and back parts are connected by beating stitches for the arm neckline and the body is just further knitted in one piece. Stitches are picked up for the button strips, then they are worked individually in the double knit, with button holes placed in pairs. Finally, stitches are added for the sleeves knitted in the round, with shortened rows on the sleeve neck, and which narrow down towards the ties.

The Chantal Collar Cardigan has a loose fit and is designed with about 15 cm positive play; reduced in larger sizes to ensure a more comfortable fit. This means that the dimensions of the garment will be about 15 cm larger than your actual breast circumference. The sizes XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL are designed for a breast circumference of 80-85 / 85-90 / 90-95 / 95-100 / 100-110 /110-120 / 120-130 cm.

Before you start knitting, measure yourself to determine the right size. For example, if your chest circumference is 90 cm, you should knit size M. If you are between two sizes, choose the size based on how loosely you want the fit of the top. Drawing with the dimensions of the finished garment can be a helpful orientation for sizing.

After washing and tensioning:
26 M×40 rows=10×10 cm in the lifting mesh pattern with needle size 4.5 mm.
26 M×32 rows=10×10 cm smooth right with needle size 3 mm.
28 M x 32 Reihen = 10 x 10 cm im 1×1-Rippenmuster mit Nadelstärke 3 mm.
52 M×64 rows=10×10 cm in a double knit with needle size 3 mm.

Note: The given gauge refers to both layers of the double knit. The visible number of stitches and rows for each layer is half of the specified number = 26 M x 32 rows.

In any case, please knit a knit sample. Make sure your gauge matches the one above. If you can’t reach the necessary stitch sample with the suggested needles, adjust your needle size to get the correct stitch sample.
