Possible side effects: stock of wool

Dear knitters, we have to be very strong now. We are now sure that the wool virus exists. Medically, of course, this is not proven in any journal, but quite honestly: After everything we observe day after day, there is no need for a study at all. We also dare to say that you will agree with us after this text at the latest.

Now, first of all, to the facts. The virus spreads relatively unspectacularly. It does not require direct physical contact, no dramatic circumstances. It is enough to see something.

A scarf that looks incredibly cuddly, a sweater where you suddenly feel the compulsion to have to swipe arbitrarily over your sleeve. A shawl that someone naturally comments with “Yes, I made it myself”. And that's where it happens.

You look a little too long. You suddenly want to know what that wool is. Whether that was difficult. How long it took. And while they still say: “madness, I could never do that”, the wool virus has long ago struck.

By the way, it is not only the knitting itself that is contagious. It's also that feeling behind it. That self-confidence. This knowledge that from a ball really something wearable has emerged. Suddenly, you want that too. Not sometime, but now.

After that, the infection usually proceeds in phases. First comes the harmless curiosity. You try “only” for a short time. Strike a few stitches. I am convinced that this will not happen. And then suddenly something grows between the needles. Not perfect, but clearly self-made. And with each row, the virus now continues to spread.

The symptoms are clear: it affects the thoughts and dreams. You start comparing yarns. You suddenly have an opinion about needle strengths. You discover that there are knitting kits, where everything comes in the package, and you are enthusiastic about it. You say phrases like, “But these are clean, even stitches.” Suddenly you also have conversations about knitting instructions and pretend that these are the normal topics.

The insidious thing about it? There is nothing that can be done about it. The wool virus is highly contagious. A single beautiful piece of knitting is enough to become a carrier herself. You wear the finished scarf. Someone sees him. Fragt. Fasst an. And then you say this momentous sentence: “Just try it.”

This is how the virus continues to migrate. From one person to the next, from generation to generation. And those who still don’t believe us now – we wouldn’t just claim something like that if we didn’t have solid evidence of it.

Imagine: Three generations scattered between Tyrol and Burgenland. Twice a year, the daughter-in-law and granddaughter visit us in the shop together with the Tyrolean mama-in-law/grandma. Projects are discussed, colors are held together and knitting plans are forged for the next few months. And if there is no visit, the youngest orders naturally in our webshop.

Knitting technology, the third generation has now overtaken all. With impressive self-evidentness, she now knits Danish designs, in which every mesh sits. You can see immediately: Here not only was infected, but even a new virus variant developed.

But the story of the daughter-in-law/mama touched us the most. Her mother knitted when she was still a child, also to feed the family. There was not a day without knitting in her hand. Later, unfortunately, health problems came that made knitting almost impossible – a nightmare for any embroidery.

And then came this one sentence that made us all very emotional: She always looks forward to going to sleep, because then she could dream of knitting.

We find that more evidence is actually not needed anymore. And because this wool virus spreads so reliably, we have of course already provided for replenishment.

All right, let's get started. For example, there would be Pierre CardiganThe sister of the Pierre Sweater. And we say it as it is: this is just such a knitted piece that is infected. One of those you see, briefly marveled at with your mouth open and suddenly wants to strike stitches.

What should not be missing here, of course, are the knitting OGs par excellence: socks. Hardly any project has infected so many. Even if we would not necessarily recommend them as the first beginner project, you end up there surprisingly quickly. So we have to show you the new sock yarns.

We find it particularly cool that Woolycell Duo miles, in which lyocell, i.e. a fiber based on cellulose, is used instead of polyamide.

If you are thinking: Well, now spring is coming anyway, the high season for the wool virus is probably over, then unfortunately we have to bring you back to the ground of reality. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to get away with it.

Check out these beautiful, lightweight sweaters. Models that are perfect for the transition period, comfortable to wear, not too warm, not too cool and that is why so deceptive.

Now you may be wondering if this wool virus can be made any more bearable. You probably won’t get rid of it, but you can definitely handle it better.

Our very pragmatic recommendation: the Dead bag from Isager. Because if projects, yarns and spontaneous wool purchases can not be avoided anyway, you should at least be able to carry them stylishly and comfortably from A to B.

Of course, we do not want to overwhelm you, so that was the first time on our part. We read each other in two weeks with new projects and fresh ideas. Until then, we wish you many beautiful knitting moments and much success.
