Too tight, too wide, too short, too long, too colorful, too boring – and the alleged crowning of all rules: “That’s just very thin.” But who has decided this nonsense, please? And why are we still listening to it? In our shop it is constantly said: “Who is wearing knitted skirts?” or “You can only wear it if you are very thin.”
Take Sabine: She likes to call herself a “Bummerle”. She thinks trousers are better for her and therefore she would not wear knitted skirts, because she thinks they do not flatter her figure. But why are we so critical – with ourselves and with others? And why do we place so much emphasis on what others might think about us and our outfit?
Sabine remembers her travels to the north. The women there don’t seem to worry so much. No matter which figure, they wear knitted skirts and tight-fitting dresses without shyness – even tight-fitting ones Knitted fabrics Kleider. Sabine’s husband can’t understand this at all, but according to her statements, he is still alive in the Stone Age anyway and Sabine could discuss with him forever why he is only bothered by foreign clothing choices – as if someone were interested in him. seine The outfits complain.
Anyway, we find women who just wear what they like and don’t care what others might think about it incredibly fascinating. Nothing with hiding or “I’m not allowed to wear this” – they just put it on. And it looks great, Because they feel great.
Nevertheless, Sabine asks again and again: “Is slim really more beautiful?” Or are we only trained for decades? And what if we only saw “round” models for the next 50 years – would our ideal of beauty change or is it just a round pipe dream?
We want to share with you today: Clothing is for everyone, knitting is for everyone. And we really shouldn’t let that stop us from wearing the very thing that makes us happy.
Perhaps this is the secret of really good outfits: fewer rules, more joy!
What brought us to this subject in the first place? Quite simply: the new collection of Sandnes Garn. We admit that we may be a little late – but what? Our contributions appear only every 14 days, and better late than never, right?
Either way – there are two knitted skirts that look insanely great, but unfortunately often meet with rejection. That’s why today we encourage you to knit knit skirts – if you like them, go ahead!
Because the fact is: If you feel like a knitted skirt, then it also belongs in your wardrobe. End of the discussion.
We continue with a dress from the new collection, the Molly Dress.
By the way, we know exactly which of our customers will soon discover this dress for themselves – if she hasn’t flirted with it for a long time.
Of course, we can also understand if you just don’t dare to use the more daring designs – that’s perfectly fine, too. After all, it is important that you feel comfortable in your skin all around. And if you would rather start with a slightly simpler model, we can give you the Harper Weste or the Mindy Sweater empfehlen. Denomination Mindy Sweater By the way, you can knit according to your mood with or without mohair – just as you like it.
You will find the complete collection by the way HIER.
What everyone really likes (here you can actually speak of a real hype) is the Sophie Scarf’ from PetiteKnit. This part is going through the ceiling outside the knitting community – the Süddeutsche Zeitung has even published an article about it. Of course, we are very happy that our beloved hobby and especially designer Mette Wendelboe Okkels get so much attention. But we have to smile a bit how much social media fuels the hype – especially since the scarf has not only existed since yesterday.
Mind you, we have already presented it to you in November 2023 in one of our contributions. So we feel a little bit like real trendsetters now ... and that's kind of a pretty cool feeling, right?
A real trendsetter is also the company Lang Yarns. Have you ever heard of...BABY COTTON NATURALLY COLORED“Heard of?” If not, then read it carefully now, because we find the story behind this yarn incredibly interesting.
The idea behind „BABY COTTON NATURALLY COLORED” It is to use cotton fibres in their natural colours – that is, without any colouring. Cotton grows in three tones (green, ivory and brown), which have often been neglected because in intensive production usually only the conventional ecru-colored cotton is used. By dispensing with colorants, up to 90% Water is saved, and the yarn comes into contact with significantly fewer chemicals. This makes it particularly gentle, for example for babies or sensitive skin.
There are various Farbvarianten, which are simply created by twisting the three basic colors.
How did this happen? Already in 1992, Santi Mallorquí Gou (OCC – Organic Cotton Colours) started the sustainable project in northeastern Brazil, which today is based on 400 10% of the cotton value is reinvested locally, while the cotton is grown completely pesticide-free, without genetically modified seeds and solely by rainwater. In addition to cotton, up to five other food crops grow to fertilize the soil naturally and thus promote regenerative agriculture. Definitely a yarn that can be used in good conscience.
For all who For the next Sommer but it is would like to bring a bit more color into the game, we of course also have something in store: a new summer yarn from Lana Grossa made of noble cotton with a Kashmir share and beautiful shimmer. In addition, there is also a great booklet, so you can get started with fresh ideas and inspirations.
For the crowning conclusion and because it fits so well to today's topic, Sabine tells you what her next knitting project will be: the Olga Sweater from PetiteKnit. In the colours 4363 Vinrod and 4213 Blossombecause the wine red simply fits perfectly with their new (also wine-red) trousers. Pretty daring for a lady who otherwise shows herself almost exclusively in black "colorful". But today we have already talked about the fact that you can also get involved in clothing “Nothing shit” sollte.
The idea for this model, by the way, came from one of her favorite customers, Martin from Innsbruck. He was in the store the other day and had the Olga Sweater itself on – in a bright red shade (presumably 4018 Scarlet) and a wool-white-tweed shade as stripes. That looked really cool! The sweater is not only for women. Martin’s example shows: Men can also wear the part loosely.
With this in mind, we would like to encourage each other once again to do our own thing – just like the ladies in the north who impressed Sabine on their travels. Let’s be self-confident and wear exactly the clothes we like – because in the end, only one thing counts: that we feel good!
