WOLLE & STAUNE · BLOG & NEWS

From Japan to the Woolbasket

You can hardly get around it at the moment: Japan is suddenly everywhere. Just open Instagram and zack, Tokyo, cherry blossoms, and perfect ramen bowls.

It feels like every second person is there right now. Or was it last year? Or plan it all out for this year. Meanwhile, you yourself are sitting there, looking at the third reel from Japan and thinking: Yes, well, it would be nice.

But honestly, Japan just has something. This mixture of very clear, almost minimalist, and at the same time so much attention to detail. Nothing seems accidental, nothing too much. Nothing seems overloaded, but also never boring. Rather so pleasantly reduced. That's what it does somehow.

And then we had a thought in the store. Do we really need to fly there? So apart from the fact that flights are generally rather a bit on the tip. Maybe just a small piece of Japan in the wool basket is enough.

Drum roll, please briefly introduce how we knock on the table with knitting needles: With us ITO eingezogen.

And we’ll say it right away, this isn’t wool screaming “hello!” It comes a bit quieter – but just right. Nothing was really left to chance.

What we do ITO Even now, it can be summed up quite well: Tradition meets something really new. This sounds a bit like advertising text, but when knitting you notice pretty quickly that exactly that is meant.

“ITO” simply translates to yarn. But there's so much more to it. In Japan, textile craftsmanship has a very special place. Much is created in small, family-run workshops. At the same time, however, the whole thing is not old-fashioned at all.

It combines, tries out, thinks ahead. Classic fibers like merino, silk or mohair meet materials like paper or even stainless steel. Sounds unusual at first, but makes exactly the charm.

The colors are also such a theme. Nothing seems accidental, but also not excessively snuggled. It just fits together. You reach into the shelf and you think: Yes, just like that.

Of course, we are already busy knitting stitch samples, so that we also know what we are talking about and so that you can feel yourself in the shop.

When knitting, you notice pretty quickly: Each yarn has its own character and that is exactly what makes it so exciting.

What we do ITO Finding it really beautiful: It is not only about the finished yarn, but also about how it is created. That you are consciously treated with animals, materials and people and you simply have a good feeling about what you have in your hands.

That is why: ITO We found his place on the shelf rather quickly.

Logically, we already have new knitting kits with the ITO-Yarns laid out. So you can really get started right away and experience a little piece of Japan from the living room.

Very briefly, something organizational about ITO:

We have created all the yarns for you in the online shop. There you can order them in all colors, but with a slightly longer delivery time of about a week.

In the shop we have the yarns of course also there, but in a smaller color selection. Anything else would, frankly, go beyond the scope. But the color cards are ready, and everything that is not there, we order you very easily and quickly.

But now we continue creatively with a sweater that has developed into an absolute favorite with us.

We say it as it is. We have really never sold so many knitting kits in such a short time. We stand a little by ourselves and wonder how fast this has gone.

It is about a model with yarns of Isager. Pretty light, a bit fluffy and just the right thing when it gets warmer outside.

One of the main colors is currently sold out and will come back to us at the beginning of May. Of course, you can still pre-order quite relaxed, we will send everything out as soon as the color is back.

What we particularly like about the sweater is the story behind it. Anne Ventzel was asked several times by her sister and sister-in-law whether she could design a knitting manual that is well suited if you sweat quickly. And at some point she herself noticed how justified this wish is.

After her chemotherapy, which is fortunately already a few years ago, she has come relatively suddenly into menopause and has got to know her body again completely new. Above all, this feeling that you are simply often warm, has led her to deal more intensively with light, breathable knitted parts.

Out of this very need, Summer Soft entstanden. Not just a “summer sweater” on paper, but really one that you like to wear when it’s warmer.

The sweater is simply made for you to like to put it on and not take it off right away. We definitely understand the hype.

We generally have a little weakness for Danish knitting designs and are always amazed at how fine and noble the details that the designers come up with are.

This is how we felt about it, too. Camisole No. 12 from My Favorite Things Knitwear.

At first glance a very reduced part, but the back detail is just really nicely done. Nothing intrusive, rather small, so that you only notice it at second glance and then like it all the more.

We recently announced that new summer knitting kits from Sandnes Garn are now gradually moving in. As promised, we keep our word.

Therefore, we have prepared three summer parts for you, which you can knit directly.

So, after our little trip to Japan and all the euphoria that these yarns have really moved in with us now, we let it be good for today.

We say goodbye to you and us in the sunny knitting weekend.

Until in two weeks.
