There’s that point in the year where you just know: Now it’s time again. Not because the calendar says it, but because when you walk suddenly this cold wind comes to you and you think: “But that would be fine now, if I had the thick sweater already finished.”
From that point on, something changes. Quietly, but noticeably. The desire for thin yarns simply disappears. Instead, you automatically reach for thicker wool again without thinking much about it. Sometimes you only notice it when you already have the knitting tools in your hand and the stitches suddenly become firmer. As if they knew for themselves that now the colder time is beginning again.
And then suddenly it’s there – that famous night at the end of October. The clock is changed, and we all pretend that we have got an hour. In truth, we have only one thing: more darkness. At five o'clock it is suddenly dark. Very dark. And that is exactly the moment when the knitting time really begins.
Because there is nothing to see outside anyway, you automatically reach for wool and needles inside. Stitch by stitch, row by row – as if it were the most natural reaction to early darkness and cold feet. And somehow it feels just right.
In summer, knitting is often such a casual thing, somewhere between iced coffee and sunscreen. But now that it gets dark again early, each scam gets a little more meaning. Autumn and knitting, that is a very own rhythm. Almost an attitude to life.
And so the temperature changes not only the yarns, but also us. Everything gets a little quieter, a little softer, a little homeier.
The ultimate expression of autumn coziness for us is clearly thick wool sweaters with color patterns and of course the good old Norwegian patterns. Somehow they just fit perfectly at this time of year. And this is exactly why we have put together a whole series of new knitting kits of Sandnes Garn for you, which you can pre-order now:

Our current highlight is clearly the...Blome Damegenser. A pattern that seems somehow fresh and yet somehow reminds of the classic Norwegian pattern. The combination of fine floral bristles and basic graphic pattern makes it special – unobtrusive, but still with a whole load of character. A sweater that simply looks like a leisurely day.
A bit simpler, but at least as beautiful is the “Astrid Damegenser. A soft sweater with a beautiful pattern reminiscent of small branches or twigs. Decent, but with a certain something. In warm shades, the sweater looks calm and modern at the same time just right for everyone who likes it a little more reduced, but still special.
The good thing is that you don’t have to wait long. The new Sandnes manuals should arrive by the end of October and as soon as they are there, we will start shipping right away so that you can get rid of them as quickly as possible.
And because it fits so well, it goes on with Sandnes Garn a bit sparkling. From next week, the new Paljett-Sandnes Garn is available from us. From this, you can make the Rookie sweaters Knitting – a casual, simple sweater with a very fine glitter effect. So discreet that it doesn’t seem cheesy, but just right to bring a little light into the darker days. Of course, we have already created the right knitting kit for you.
While it’s getting darker outside, we’re also moving in a bit of fluff: Can you remember that we told you a few weeks ago that our cheetah-yarn family has grown and Kumula Has he moved in with us? Now there are finally suitable knitting kits for this wonderfully soft wool. Easy, warm and easy to process beautifully – mesh for mesh a little bit of coziness on grey days.
But now we are at the end of our article in the middle of the most beautiful knitting time of the year – with manufactured patterns, a bit of fluff and a lot of desire for new stitches.
In two weeks we read here again with fresh news that makes the knitting day as always a little bit more beautiful. Until then: let the needles clack and enjoy what this season does best: give knitting motivation.
