The days are getting longer, the sun warmer, and in the air lies this quiet spirit of optimism that makes us dream of summer adventures. Those who have not yet planned their holiday may now feel the desire to discover something new and to escape from everyday life for a while. And of course, for us Wollliebte, this also raises a very special question: Which knitting project will accompany us this summer? And why not go one step further – and choose the destination to suit our passion?
A good holiday companion on the needles must be one thing above all: easy, uncomplicated and of course full of anticipation. Large, heavy projects or complicated patterns are often impractical on the go. It is much nicer to pack small, handy works – projects that do not need much space and can simply continue to grow in the sun or during a leisurely break in the café. Socks are obviously the classics here: compact, fast and with endless possibilities to bring a little color and ease into the journey. Even light summer towels, perhaps made of fine cotton or silk, are perfect – they are almost as if by the way and are later wonderful companions for balmy holiday evenings. If you are looking for a bit more challenge, you can try your hand at summer tops or light sweaters – made of linen, cotton or an airy merino mix.
But why should we stop at our knitting utensils in our luggage? If we are already planning the summer full of anticipation, we can still dream a bit further. Are there not perhaps places where wool plays a very special role – places where our favorite hobby is almost part of the culture? Iceland springs to mind – this rough, beautiful country where traditional Lopapeysa sweaters are more than just clothes. They belong to everyday life, to history, to the attitude to life. Or Scotland – with its beautiful landscapes, old customs and small wool mills that we could discover on a tour from place to place. Or if you like it warmer, you may find luck in Tuscany – between hand-dyed wool on colorful markets or in small workshops. Perhaps we will find exactly the ball of wool that later becomes our favorite summer towel – and every time we knit or wear it, we feel a little bit like on holiday again.
And even if the wanderlust does not carry us far this year – often there are magical places on the doorstep that invite you to small knitting times. A picnic in the park, a trip to the lake or an afternoon on the balcony can be just as fulfilling if the right yarn is included.
No matter where it takes us this summer – a lovingly selected knitting project makes every trip even more beautiful. And maybe now is the time to pack the suitcases – and the project bags.
This is exactly what leads us to Sabine’s absolute favorite knitting magazine from Sandnes Garn of which she has worked diligently in the last few days knitting kits. Although the issue is already one of the older editions and is not available in German for quite a while now it is also out of print in Norwegian. All printed versions are sold out, which is why Sandnes Garn Now the digital instructions have been released. From now on, knitting instructions are available as a free PDF – a nice opportunity to rediscover the designs, finally re-knit or to pack on your “Summer Holiday Knitting List”.

Our next knitting kit also invites you to travel again – this time we go to Scandinavia, Sabine’s favorite destination. A short-sleeve sweater of PetiteKnitfrom Kashmir.
Kashmir for a summer part? This may seem unusual – but makes sense when you think of the Scandinavian summer. Even if the sun shines, a cool breeze often blows – Scandinavia is therefore not without reason one of Sabine’s favorite destinations.
Our next knitting kits will not be so warm in the summer – Sabine even secretly hopes that it will be cool enough at the weekend so that the entry in this article is really worthwhile. The designs come from Thea Vesterby And they are the ones among us who are more advanced.
One thing must be said honestly: The instructions have it in themselves. They are demanding, you progress only slowly when knitting, and in between, you definitely need endurance. But that's what makes them so special. In the end, you will be rewarded with really thoughtful, extraordinary pieces – and we think: It pays off.
Well – after we take you with our summer travel ideas anyway rather to places where it is not brooding hot even in July, we can now also introduce you to Sabine’s current favorites. In your opinion, a real must-have: BAM BAM BOW – a small, soft loop scarf made of fine cashmere.
As simple as the part may seem at first glance, there is a lot behind it. The shape and functionality of the loop are inspired by a very special scarf, which designer Anne Ventzel knows from her childhood in the 70s and 80s. Definitely a favorite part with history.
Although it may not really fit the rest of this post, but it also guarantees a special story told, simply sugar-sweet and wonderfully suitable for travel due to its rather small size. And because it has simply taken our hearts by storm, we do not wish to withhold it from you: the talk is of Ellen's baptism dress from PetiteKnit.
The dress is knitted seamlessly from top to bottom, with a small slit in the neck and an airy skirt in delicate dandelion pattern. Sleeves and closures are finely worked out, the length can be adjusted individually.
So that no mistake happens to you, we have replenishment from the Coco Knits mesh markers bekommen. Whether colorful, gold, as a triangle or round, we have everything in stock again and for the nerds among us there is even a complete mesh marker set.
Before we finish this post, after all the summery, less summery, and sugar-sweet knitting kits, we have a little – well, let’s say: less enjoyable news for you. And because it fits so well, we baptize them very solemnly in accordance with our last kit: “The Cheetah Garn Drama”.
We had already announced that they were in great demand. CottonWaves yarn Moving in with us – and that’s true. Unfortunately, the rush for these yarns is currently so great that they are hardly available. We currently only get the wool in small batches, which are distributed monthly, so that all wool shops have at least a little stock.
The two most popular colors – 102 raw white and 144 beige – are unfortunately only available in May. Therefore, we had to temporarily block these two colors for orders. From now on, we only unlock the colors that are really in stock with us or are demonstrably on the way to us.
Gepard Garn But we made a firm promise that we will be supplied throughout the summer so that you can implement your favorite projects in any case. We all need a little patience.
With this we now release you into the hopefully creative and relaxed knitting weekend. We wish you a lot of joy and success in your projects – and look forward to reading us again in two weeks with new ideas and fresh news.
