Woolia New and sustainable merino yarn
This yarn consists of a very special wool, wool of an old original Italian sheep breed, Merino Gentile Puglia.
Sheep and lambs graze mainly between fruit and olive trees on organic plantations and on extensive areas.
Woolia is spun from the wool of lambs and sheep of the original Italian merino breed.
This breed lived and still lives today in a smaller area around Apulia in Italy. Puglia is the original habitat of the sheep and therefore the sheep remain much more easily healthy by nature. This form of sheep farming and grazing is the most sustainable form of wool production. It is environmentally friendly and offers the best living conditions for sheep and sheep farmers.
The farmers sort the wool themselves and sell it directly to our spinning mill. In this way, the farmer gets a better price for the wool and we know the product up to the individual small sheep herds.
Woolia is pleasantly soft and does not pill at all. In addition, it has about 30% more meters than other yarns of the same thickness.
This means that a sweater will be easy even with braids or fair-isle knit.
When you feel the wool for the first time, you will probably find it a bit dry, this is a feature of this merino wool. It is also the peculiarity that gives the yarn a great lightness, and the property that Woolia knit pieces retain their shape regardless of the needle size. Another feature is that Woolia does not scratch, and retains a very beautiful surface.
