Yarns with a clear conscience

Imagine opening your project bag, and instead of just discovering wool, the scent of a fresh summer meadow surrounds you. A quiet blink in the distance – and suddenly you realize: This yarn has experienced more than just swimming through the dye bath.

When we delve into the world of wool and knitting, it’s not just about the colors, the textures or the craftsmanship. The best yarns are not only beautiful to touch or look at, they come with a really cool story.

Imagine that the sheep that gives us its cuddly fibers is living a life like on holiday. It grazes on juicy meadows, has sun on its nose and can move freely. That sounds like a feel-good program, right? No stress, no hectic – just enjoy life. And who would have thought that this also affects the quality of the wool? If the animal is happy, it is also the wool. You can see it at every handle, at every stitch.

But what would the most beautiful wool be without the people who process it? And there we come to an even better news: There are people who do their work with just as much love and respect as we do when knitting. These people work under fair conditions, get a fair wage and really have an idea of what they are doing.

Crafts with a heart – who can resist?

Oh, and then there's the environment. Wool is a natural product, that is clear. But the real masterpieces are created when we pay attention to how we process them. If the coloring is environmentally friendly and the entire production process is as gentle to the earth as the wool itself. After all, what good is the best yarn if our environment falls by the wayside? So: less plastic, pollutants and exploitation and more sustainability.

Everything must go together: the welfare of animals, fair working conditions and the protection of our planet. When all these aspects are in harmony, wool becomes more than just a material – it becomes a statement.

This is where Trine Bertelsen, the owner of CaMaRose, ins Spiel. It has made this mission its mission: to offer the highest quality yarns from fair and organic production. Their yarns proudly carry the GOTS certificate, which stands for the highest standards in terms of sustainability, environmental protection and social responsibility. Thus, each fiber becomes not only a piece of wool, but a small contribution to a better world.

We brought exactly such a wool into the house or into the online shop: CaMaRose I Økologisk Pimabomuld

Yes, we admit it – with the name of this wool we also made a little difficult for the time being. We actually had to read about it five times to make sure what is behind this tongue-breaker. But that's just the surface. What is really in this yarn, we know very well. Økologisk Pimabomuld STANDARD 100 is certified by OEKO-TEX®. This means that this yarn is completely free of dangerous chemicals – for humans and animals. And that’s not all: Only raw materials in organic quality were used.

This cotton is really something very special. It shimmers gently like silk and is so evenly twisted that you can’t get in between with the needle. Needle No. 3 produces a light, delicate fabric which is approximately the same thickness as the known yarns. Mandarin petit or Sunday This is a great alternative if you are looking for something similar. If it is knitted double-threaded, you can achieve a gauge of 20-22 stitches on 10 cm width – so it can also be used wonderfully as a replacement for the Line from Sandnes Garn verwenden.

Usually we move here with regard to wool and wool manufacturers mostly in Scandinavia because we wanted to shorten the transport route again today, we will delight you with a butter-soft merino wool, made in Austria. Furthermore, wool is not only an Austrian company, but also a company that spins the wool directly in Austria.

We have had the wool in the store for some time, but were only able to create it in the online shop due to missing photos. We will shoot the latest colors ourselves in the next few days, as there are no official photos of Weiter – but since the colors are just so beautiful, we did not want to wait any longer to show them to you.

Also new and buttery-soft is the summer yarn made of cotton with linen – Cotton Baby Lino from Gepard. Soon there will be some designs, where it is together with the Cottonwaves is used. But even on its own, this yarn is simply beautiful.

We ourselves are quite amazed how much new wool we have in our luggage this time – but that’s not enough! After all, a Wolle + Staune contribution would not be complete without a decent load of knitting kits. This time it will finally be really summery, because even Sabine now longs for some sun and warmth.

Before we finish, we would like to point you to a real highlight, which we will finally present in 14 days. The keyword is Kokon Yarn – the wool is already on the postal route to us, and once it has arrived with us, we will present it to you in detail. We can hardly wait!

Until then, we wish you a successful knitting time and keep in mind: Happy Wool is the Better Wool!
