“Wool scratches on the skin.” – This prejudice is certainly known to everyone. But wool is not the same as wool and that is why today we want to convince you of the opposite. In addition to sheep wool, there would also be alpaca wool.
Originally from Peru, the alpaca wool is one of the highest quality wool varieties. Not only is it warmer, it is finer than sheep’s wool, and it feels almost as delicate as Kashmir. Yes, even for sensitive skin it is therefore ideally suited.
But there are many other reasons why alpaca wool is becoming more and more popular.
High wearing comfort
In winter, the wool not only stores the warmth of the body, but also ensures the perfect heat balance in summer. In addition, the fiber absorbs moisture very well and can neutralize sweat through the protein molecules it contains. Alpaca wool garments are therefore largely spared unpleasant odors.
Good for allergy sufferers
Just like merino wool, alpaca wool is also particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. This is because alpaca wool hardly contains wool fat. In addition, the wool has a high self-cleaning power, is odour-neutral and antibacterial.
Alpacas and the Environment
Alpacas are environmentally friendly animals, as they have cushions on their legs instead of hooves and thus do not destroy soil and vegetation. In addition, no chemicals are used in the processing of alpaca wool.
Animal welfare is especially important to us. That is why we attach great importance to sourcing our alpaca wool only from brands where we know that the animals are actually kept in a manner that is appropriate to the species.
