Do you want New Year’s resolutions?

New Year’s resolutions... yes, we know. In fact, we roll our eyes inside as soon as the word falls. Nevertheless, at the beginning of the year, pretty much every one of us thinks briefly about whether we should do anything “better”. More sports, less sugar, sleeping earlier... we all know these 08/15 resolutions that you forget faster than you like. Therefore, quite honestly: If we already think of resolutions, then rather those that really fit into our everyday life – so everyone who likes knitting should now read carefully.

At the forefront of this,
We don't beat everyone Wunsch-Project immediately. At least we try. Maybe, sometimes. Because of course it is wonderful when a project or a yarn inspires us so much that we want to get started right away, but at some point there are three, four, five project bags around and look at us very blamelessly.

Then we would have another:
We treat our UFOs more nicely. (UnFinished Objects – for anyone pretending they don’t have one.) So the unfinished projects lying around somewhere. Instead of a guilty conscience, a friendly thought like: “You are only on a vacation.”Some things just need a bit of a break – even knitwear.

It would also make sense to:
We are less angry about small mistakes. A slightly lopsided stitch? A transition that is not quite smooth? Yes, what? Manual labor is manual labor. Machines can be perfect. Our things can simply be “real”.

And because it's important:
We treat ourselves to beautiful wool, without any justification. Sometimes we buy yarn simply because it gives us pleasure. That is reason enough.

Another resolution that would surely do us all good:
We compare ourselves less. Whether someone knits faster, can make difficult patterns or feels like they have a new part ready every week. We do it at our pace. And that's just right.

And perhaps the most important point of all:
We knit because it does us good. Not because something has to be done. Not because we have to be “productive”. But because it relaxes, calms, does good and simply gives us joy.

So if we need New Year’s resolutions, please only those that don’t cause stress. Less “I must”, but much more “I may”. And because “I’m allowed to knit” is a pretty nice resolution, we have collected a few projects that we think fit perfectly.

Let's start with: Bag and Covers by Anne Ventzel

In this project, you not only knit a really nice bag, but if you like also suitable cases for mobile phone & tablet. So to speak, a “round life”. We find the idea very sympathetic that even the smartphone gets a small wool coat. If we are cold, then certainly him.

The beauty of it is that the project is simple, stylish and has this soothing knit repeat magic. You sit there, knitting row by row and suddenly the whole thing looks pretty professional. And while it’s practical, it still feels like a pleasure project. No stress, no complicated dislocations – just comfortable knitting.

After the bags and cases, we still have a project that fits wonderfully into the quiet beginning time of the year: Sweater No. 32 by My Favorite Things Knitwear

This is such a sweater that does not scream “look at me!”, but simply comes quietly and relaxed. Timeless, simple, cozy – one that you really wear and admire not only in the box. This is exactly why it fits so well with our New Year’s resolutions: no pressure, no frills, but a project that can be knitted on the side.

Another great project for the new year: Anni Vest by Helga Isager

The vest has an exciting design, but can still be combined wonderfully versatile. The model looks modern and at the same time classic, so exactly such a part that you keep for a long time.

And it also fits well with our New Year’s resolutions: Especially in projects with color gradients, it quickly happens that the colors do not change exactly where we imagined it. Instead of getting angry about it, we may think more often this year: “That’s right and it makes my piece unique.”The Anni Vest reminds us a bit to stay calmer and simply take the little peculiarities of our knitted pieces with us.

In the end, a beautiful vest with a lot of personality is created.

Then there is a project that really should not be missing in the new year: Fluffy Fleece Vest by Johanna Reus.

West in this style can be seen everywhere at the moment – in shop windows, on Instagram, in everyday life. Most of the time they look cuddly, are voluminous at first, but unfortunately they are almost always made of 100% polyester. Plastic to wear.

This is exactly why our resolution comes into play here: We treat ourselves to beautiful wool – without any justification.

Because why should we not knit ourselves such a favorite vest – but just from really high-quality natural fibers? The Fluffy Fleece Vest is knitted from merino and alpaca wool. It’s soft, warm, breathable, and just feels very different from a fast-fashion fast-paced part. You immediately notice: This is something that remains.

Another project that is wonderfully suited for the start of the year is: Beanie No. 6 by My Favorite Things Knitwear. The hood has a modern design that looks incredibly stylish.

It is one of those accessories that you always like to take to hand, whether for the daily walk, the commute or simply for leisurely days outside. A timeless piece that is elegant, casual and practical at the same time and also a perfect start to a new knitting year.

Finally, we would like to wish you all a wonderful start to the new year. Best with a little more serenity, a cup of tea or coffee in your hand and a knitting project that just gives you pleasure. Without stress and without a desire for perfection.

We hope our ideas bring a bit of inspiration to your needles and maybe one or the other project will find a place in your knitting basket. And if in between something is different than planned: half as wild.

We are now embarking on a new creative year and will read each other again in two weeks.
