ZOLA Socks

The ZOLA socks are cozy socks in a simple braid pattern. With classic 6-thread sock yarn and 3.0 mm needles, they are knitted relatively quickly and the perfect small project for in between.

The socks are worked as toe-up socks from the bottom up, i.e. from the tip to the fret. After the “magic mesh stop”, first the tip of the strip is knitted with the help of lateral increases, then the foot in the braid pattern (upper foot) and smoothly on the right (sole). The heel is worked as a wedge heel with the help of increases and decreases. Finally, the shank is knitted in the plait pattern and the collar is knitted in the rib pattern, and all stitches are elastically unchained.

Techniques used: Magic mesh stop, Magic loop method, 2 stitches knitted out of a single mesh (kfb, kbf), left and right inclined taps, elastic chaining with envelopes or the “Italian method”

Material

1 ball of Super Soxx 6-thread by Lang Yarns (75% wool, 25% polyamide, superwash; tread length: approximately 410 m / 150 g)

Gauge
Smooth right with Nd 3.0 mm: 25 M x 33 R = 10 x 10 cm (washed and lying measured)
Select a different needle size if necessary to adapt the gauges.

Needles
3.0 mm circular needles (60 or 80 cm long) for the magic cast-on and the
“Magic Loop method”; or
double-pointed needles 3,0 mm (15 cm long) if not working with the Magic Loop method.

Accessories
plait or auxiliary needle, sewing needle, e.g. mesh marker.
