Well, how are you? Have you already entered the autumn knit mode?
With us in the shop, the last few weeks went really well, so much we can already reveal! We have some plans and today we want to provide you with the latest knit news directly. But in turn...
Hopefully two weeks ago we already made you a little curious when we indicated that this time something very special is waiting for you: A new wool company has moved in with us!
Every time a new wool company joins us, it feels like family growth. But such a decision is really not without – we are quite picky, because there is always a lot of heart and soul (and budget) behind it.
The starting shot is usually when Sabine discovers a wool with which she spontaneously falls in love. Then there's a lot of excitement! But before we say “yes”, it will be exciting again, because then research is called for: Does the company fit us? Are the materials sustainable and high quality? And above all – are there cool knitting models that fit perfectly for us and you?
With our newest access, this was a hit at all levels! That is why we can officially announce: Willkommen CaMaRose!
You know? CaMaRose schon? If not, then it is high time! Trine Bertelsen, the founder of CaMaRose, is a Danish knitting designer who has created her own wool brand with a lot of passion. As for her mission, she hits the nail on the head, but this is what she tells you best herself:
My mission with my company from the beginning was to be able to offer quality yarn under my own label, which is not otherwise available on the market, and at an affordable price. Next, I decided to work with suppliers who adhere to ethical and ecological rules towards animals and the environment in the production of yarn. In addition, my goal was to create knitting and crochet instructions that are easy to follow while also reflecting the trends of the time.
Since 2008, I have been involved in the design and writing of knitting and crochet instructions and therefore have many years of experience in the development and writing of instructions. Before starting my own business, I worked as a freelance knitting designer for other wholesalers at home and abroad, for weekly magazines and knitting magazines. The experience I gained from working for others was absolutely indispensable and I myself believe that designing and writing a good knitting/crocheting pattern is something that you have to learn for many years and that you have to constantly develop.
From the beginning in 2010, it was my three children who inspired me to design and they are still my daily source of inspiration today. Therefore, it was obvious when I decided in 2015 to change the name of my company from Strikkebogen to CaMaRose.dk, as this is an abbreviation of the names of my three children Carl-Emil, Mathilde and Anna-Rose.
This passion and dedication is noticed in every single ball and in a ball called “SnefnugSabine fell in love with shock again. On one of her notorious holiday loot trains, she has discovered the snefnug. Of course, she could not resist, the wool just had to go. First only for testing – but already after the first stitches it was clear: That's great love!
The wool is not only super soft, but also voluminous, perfect for thick sweaters and jackets without lying heavy on the shoulders. Even larger models can be knit without any problems, without having to crush you.
Another plus: The wool can be processed with different needle sizees. Whether 12 or 16 stitches on 10 cm, it adapts and is therefore ideal for many projects. And the best part? Even after wearing and washing, it remains beautifully in shape. We are gone and believe you will be too!
Of course, we could not justify the fact that Snefnug We have to go to the store all alone, so we also have the Midnatssol also included.
Midnatssol is a fluffy, fine yarn and a perfect alternative to mohair yarns – ideal for those who do not tolerate mohair. The special thing about Midnatssol? Instead of a silk thread as carrier material, Tencel is used here.
Important to know: Tencel is a natural fiber that is made of wood – so wonderfully sustainable! In addition, there is a small proportion of wool, but most of it is made of alpaca fibers, which provide for this incomparable fluff.
But now we're going to go to the canned ones, because here are the Snefnug knitting kits:
Ein weiteres Hightlight – Die erste große Lieferung von RE:Designed And they arrived with us! Some of you have already discovered the fancy bags and secured them right away. No wonder – the collection is just fantastic!
We're totally excited about Project 25, our “knit bag to go”. It is just the right size for a complete sweater project and is equipped with many practical side pockets and interior compartments – perfect for having everything organized beautifully and still looking really chic.
For home is the leather basket, or better said Project 26It's an absolute favorite. It is not only super stylish, but also mega practical to keep your wool and knitting projects neat.
And if that still doesn't give you enough space, we still have it. Project 10 – a beautiful, curated bag in the style of a beauty box.
Since we are currently on the subject of storage options for our wool treasures, we have a really funny story that a customer in the store recently told us. This story made us laugh so much that we still have to smile when we think of it.
First of all, a little background information about the lady it is about: One of our regular customers, a very successful businesswoman from the technical sector, and her husband – also very successful, in the healthcare sector – we are unfortunately not allowed to reveal more but that does not make the story less funny.
Now here's the sticking point. What we knitters and wool buyers almost all have in common is the small but fine detail that wool buy and wool entangle are actually two completely different hobbies. Means: We like to buy more wool than we can ever entangle, and that’s perfectly normal, right?
In any case, we knew from previous conversations with this said customer that she has a nice, large closet for all her wool treasures. No chaos, no wild mess – their treasures are properly conceded. After a hard day, she even likes to stand in front of it, open the doors and just enjoy the sight of her beautiful wool collection. Pure relaxation!
But it came as it had to come: Her husband walks one day quite by chance into the room, while she admires her wool treasure again. His gaze falls on the open closet – and for the first time he really registers what is in it. Our client suddenly feels her heart beating a little faster and we could hardly bear the tension at this point of the story.
He stands there, looks at the closet and after a short silent pause he said it: “That’s a lot of wool, right?”
Autsch! We all shrugged for a moment. But our client? She can’t be put off and counters freezingly: “This is nothing compared to your classic car collection.”
Zack, Topic done – and we all laughed at each other!
After we have hopefully made you laugh a bit, we say goodbye to the well-deserved weekend – after all, a few exciting knitting projects are waiting for us!
In zwei Wochen geht’s hier weiter, denn die neue Herrenkollektion von Sandnes Garn It is already in the starting blocks. We are currently working on the knitting kits and in the next blog we will show you everything exactly. So stay tuned!
