I was immediately attracted by the graphic pattern in the web pattern, which I would like to reinterpret here. I like the idea of a cape that you can wear over your clothes. From a purely functional point of view, however, I find a cape in practice a bit annoying when everyday life is hectic and clothes simply have to sit. For this reason, I decided to turn the cape into a slightly more “controlled” form, namely a spacious cardigantic sweater with half-long sleeves.

The weaving pattern is a simple technique to knit a multi-color pattern without processing multiple colors at the same time. This means that what looks like Fair Isle knitting in this project is worked with only one color, which reduces the difficulty level.

The cardigan is worked from top to bottom and does not have to be sewn together at the end. First is the back fit, then shortened rows on the shoulders to create a nice cut. Subsequently, the front sides are knitted in the same manner. Beneath the arm cutouts, the front and rear are connected and knitted in rows over all the fuselage stitches. After that, stitches are picked up at the neck cutout, as well as at the front edges. Finally, stitches for the sleeves are included, on the top of which shortened rows are also made in order to optimize the fit.
All of the ribs are in the entangled rib pattern.

Sizes
Sizes : 1 (2) 3 (4) 5
Brustumfang : 120 (127) 143 (150) 165 cm
Length 1: 75 (75) 75 (75) 75 cm
Length 2: 82 (82) 82 (82) 82 cm

It is very different how much freedom of movement you want to achieve on your knitted piece. Take measure of your favorite cardigan. So the decision regarding the appropriate size may be easier for you.
The bright version of the KARLA CAPE is knitted with a range of movement of 37 cm and length 1.
The caramel-colored version is knitted with a range of movement of 60 cm and length 1.

MATERIAL
Tvinni (100% wool 50 grams about 255 meters) together with Eco Soft (56% alpaca, 44% cotton: 125 m / 50 g) both Isager Denmark yarns.

Version 1 white with anthracite
Hauptfarbe: Tvinni color 0 + Eco Soft color 0
350 (400) 450 (500) 550 gram Eco Soft together with
200 (200) 250 (250) 300 grams Tvinni
Kontrastfarbe: Tvinni color 4s + Eco Soft color 4s
100 (100) 100 (150) 150 grams of Eco Soft together with
50 (50) 50 (100) 100 grams Tvinni

For the longer variant You need one more bunch from the Eco Soft (you have enough from the Tvinni)

Version 2 brown with white
Main color: Tvinni color 7s + Eco Soft color E7s
Contrast Color: Tvinni Color 0 + Eco Soft Color E0

Recommended needles
4,5 mm and 5 mm circular knitting needle (40 and 80/120 cm)
Judy’s magic cast on requires 2 circular knitting needles of 5 mm each.

Gauge
16 stitches x 26 rows in MODEL on needle 5 mm = 10 x 10 cm

Accessories 10 pieces of buttons (toggle buttons 40 mm long) for the long jacket 1 button more

Exciting background information about the Isager Archive collection, by Helga Isager:

All designers and their models, in the order in which the knitting instructions appear:
Anne Ventzel — Karla Cape
Lene Holme Samsoe – Inge Sweater
Myfavoritethingsknitwear – Norma Sweater
Petiteknit – Esther Cardigan
Aegyoknit – Gerda Sweater
Otherloops – Johanne Loop Sweater
Hannerimmen – Aase Sweater
Odd_row – Tove Shirt + Skirt
Helga Jona – Rita Jacke
Knitthing
Camilla Vad
Helga Isager – Kirsten Shirt

You can buy the German manual directly from the enchanting Anne Ventzel *for guidance*

The knitting kit contains the corresponding quantity of ORIGINAL Wool for the size you have chosen.
